FWIW I reported this as a problem to Samsung UK here. You might need to use a different location for your country (or for something other than the SM-G930F). Although it's not a hardware problem, I couldn't see a better section to file it under. It's a hardware-supporting-API problem.

Re: Tv remote control apps Yes, I believe so. You'll note the Mobeam / Beep'nGo service does actually work on the S7. You won't see IR with the naked eye, of course, but if you point another device's camera at it when it's sending a barcode, you'll see the IR LED is still there. So it looks...
