    updating to 4.2.1

Just checked. 4.2.1 isn't available yet from AT&T. Maybe your friend has another carrier or has his phone rooted and got a hold of one of the leaked releases of 4.2.1. You sure you didn't make a typo and meant 4.1.2 instead because that is available from AT&T.

Dropped my new note 2 what do I do?

Keith, but the OP is saying they replaced his phone for just $75.00 and without insurance. Replacement screen looks like they are going for about $55.00 on eBay, and besides it's a pain and a lot of work to replace it yourself.

Understood, will see if it happens again. For now, it's working fine. :)

Dropped my new note 2 what do I do?

Honestly, that's kinda hard to believe! Samsung is quoting people $179.00 for a new screen replacement. Where the heck did the number of $75.00 come from?

Looks like the issue went away once I did a software reset of the phone, and tried it outside of my apartment. Weird!

Update: Tried bumping up the display timeout value but that didn't help. This is very strange! :(

    Has anyone experienced this symptom?

I was just on a 611 call to AT&T. When I'm given an audible option (for instance press one to continue) I can't press the number on the keypad because every time I try to press the digit the screen goes black. I've noticed this once before. I was just given option for keys 1 through 5 in the...

Galaxy Note 2 Screen Water Damage

Unfortunately, sAMOLED screen's worst enemy is liquid! It is highly unlikely the uncooked rice treatment is going to fix it, however, it's worth a shot! If it's just a screen replacement Samsung Support has recently quoted users $179.00 with a 2 week turnaround time.

Dropped my new note 2 what do I do?

Yes, if they determined it was a manufacturing defect. However, damage is a whole other story and that won't be covered without insurance! I believe I read there's someone on eBay who does screen replacements for a reasonable price. Sorry, don't have that info though. Be aware if you have it...

Thinking of jumping from iPhone to GN2.

rankar7: I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a DHCP limit in your router settings? There is usually a limit on how many simultaneous wireless devices that can be supported, and it sounds like you have a number of devices that use it. Wondering if the value is set to low for your...

Thinking of jumping from iPhone to GN2.

Rankar7, Just read this in another thread here. Yes, the security update. I installed it and my wifi issues have disappeared since then. Whether they come back again has yet to be seen. Have you tried this latest security update that came down yesterday from AT&T?

Thinking of jumping from iPhone to GN2.

rankar7, two things. First, one doesn't really have to do any kind of extensive setup on the Note 2 to have a fully functioning device. Second, I don't have to reboot my Note 2 whenever I walk into the house and connect to my wi-fi. Sounds like you might have a configuration problem with your...

    Warranty Replacement (AT&T)

Good info and advice there Kelly! :) OP paid $689, I for one would be extremely pissed my phone was doing this! Don't forget the squeaky wheel gets the oil OP! :)

Thinking of jumping from iPhone to GN2.

Personally, It's a little less then 2 weeks from my jumping ship from a iPhone 4S to the Note 2 (my first Android device) and So far, so good! :) My previous experience with smartphones has all been via iPhones.

rankar7, that's certainly not normal and it sounds to me like you might have a defective phone!
