It fetches the update from the Play Store. It is just a bit better displaying that an update is available. Often it finds update that is not showing up in Play Store if you just check för updates. But if you open the applications own page in Play Store an update can be available but not showing...

Exactly my reason also. Aurora Store works great, often finding updates earlier than they are found in Play Store

You can install Aurora Store and activate the setting for it to update deactivated apps. Working great for me https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.aurora.store/

Why use a third party app when all I know and work with use Imessage? And no iMessage is not like using SMS. Don't like either Whats App or Telegram and not many people in Sweden using those apps as iPhone is very dominating in the Swedish phone market
