I like to keep my homescreen as minimal as possible and I think im quite successful with that. Just a little question, what widgets do you use to create that setup?

I used the galaxy note for quite some reading and I still prefer my Sony EReader. If you want to use it to read books, use the Kindle. E-Ink displays are a pleasure to read and your Note will burn through the battery quite fast.

Ive got a hardcase for it. Not much protection if its falling on the ground but protects it from scratches. Due to the nature of it, it also puts a gap of 2mm between the lens and anything else :)

I dont know where the problem is, but in the worst case(not fixing the airplane mode) you could pop out the sim card to prevent roaming :)

I use the Simple Calendar Widget. Its not compareable to the Touchwhiz Widgets but its handy if you have not that much appointment. Most widgets will use the integrated calendar and you can sync that with google calendar.

You can use odin to flash the old GB version on your phone, but I'm not sure if it will work without problems without a complete wipe.

If you flash it you just put another firmware on it. Rooting is something to obtain su permissions. And if you flash via odin you dont need root.
