Thanks for the reply. It appears this is a crucial difference then between a Verizon S6 and a Verizon Note 5. Strange but good to know!

I've just bought a Note 5 from Verizon in Best Buy today, for use in Europe (I'm from Belgium and they don't sell it there). I chose Verizon because I've read they sell unlocked phones, but after reading some more on gsm / lte bands today, I'm not sure anymore it will work on European networks...
