I just bought the Galaxy S6 and it is not yet compatible with my Gear Fit...I am pretty sure it is because of the new version OS. It also detects the band but fails to connect through the app. I think we just have to wait for a software update that will eventually come out (hopefully!).

I am having the same issue. Just bought Galaxy S6 Edge and my Gear Fit wont work...and it was a recent Christmas gift to me from my kids. I hope they get this updated soon! Right now it is just a $150 decorative wristband!
