I had a similar issue - could not receive MMS messages from iPhone users, and group messages did not come through from iPhone users. Reason was because my iPhone 4S that I had switched from, somehow still had iMessage activated. Change the password to your apple account, wait a few minutes...

By any chance, do you have Google Voice? The same thing happened to me today (I believe after installing Google Voice). I have uninstalled Google Voice, and my Google Services usage has gone down from 53% to 49%. Battery life still isn't great, but the Google Services usage has gone down.
