I have the very same 2 issues. Only one ear working with headphone jack and microphone has stopped working. Good phone but there seems to be a major problem with the microphone and headphone jack. Really disappointing as my phone is only about 6 weeks old and I have taken good care of it.

I have this same problem - tested head phones on other devices and tried other headphones. One ear is always not working when I plug in to the HTC One M8. Very dissappointing since phone is almost brand new. Issue happened about a week after I bought the phone.
