I'm using a galaxy s5 android 5.0 with minimal power saving. The setting was under the Display icon.

Just click keyboard icon bottom left of floater and it will return to normal fixed size.

You can also assign another default punctuation symbol to key instead of question mark (or select emoticon etc). Floating keyboard is 'very' small so unless you have elf size fingers..
