That generally happens after you use the Sprint Zone app (same as dialing *2 in the dialer). It performs several checks on your phone, and that's one of them.

So something random happened a couple days ago. I got a text after a phone call saying I had a sprint voice mail, it was from "android" and it lists the number I got the VM from and the number 408 970 0000. When called, there is a message that says I have a device that gets mms & sms vm texts...

When I came over from my Pixi I just sent all contacts to gmail via the email option in contacts, imported them into gmail, then got the evo and synced up, very easy. Have fun, it's a great phone!

it's not your launcher, the fb app isn't the best thing developed for android...i don't think it's as bad as some people say, but it's not the best. I occasionally get notifications - but most if the time I just have to check. I think everything else about the phone rocks...so it doesn't...

I could've misread as well, lol, I'm a little out of it with a cold right now - but I haven't noticed any enhanced user experience with it.

you're not missing anything without the update that just happened though, it's an update for gingerbread devices - doesn't do much for the evo right now

good question. mine does the same thing...although not on the exact interval yours does. I only notice it once in awhile - but same thing....not rooted, no malicious apps, and no notification for anything when the screen turns on, it just comes on.

All that goes away in the first hours of use, trust me, lol....the phone is that good.

I used the pixi for about a year, and got my hands on a pre plus for a couple months. I did like webos, but am now a fan of droid. I didn't really feel there was a learning curve, yes - a different phone with a different OS took a couple hours to play with to get used to...but I have to say...

Was curious if anyone else has experienced this in their Evo. The market is showing I have updates (google maps & handcent) I tried to update, but it always starts, then just stops. Doesn't say it failed, just stops. The list of "my apps" in the market now shows them as uninstalled, though...
