I am on at&t and have the "LTE Plummet" problem, too. After reading this thread I turned off LTE by enabling WDCMA ALL (I think that was it). Now I just see 4G in the status bar, and usually see the UTMS:3 network in status. I have not had a plummet for a few days, so that seems to have fixed...
