Still happening to me with the ARJ7 update, it actually seems worse with the past two updates. In some videos with mono narration, I notice the sibilant sounds pan left and right occasionally.

I spoke too soon. It happened again on Petapixel and the only apps I've installed recently were Screener, Pineapple Pen, Poweramp and Sound Assistant. Pineapple Pen is the only one that seems to be dubious in terms of ads, but I've had no problem with it before on my Sony Xperia Z5.

These were the three games I uninstalled, and so far the popup hasn't occurred again: Tenkyu Waves Tomb of the Mask I don't know which specific game caused it though.

yes you will, OTA comes directly from HTC in the case of this phone as it is carrier unlocked. A few users (I think 901s LTE version) still didn't get an OTA update but I have the Taiwanese version (901e no LTE) and got an OTA update in September.

hmm, I don't know about the original's sound quality, though I heard about how the international version has very compressed sound due to some hardware problem (the way the soundcard is installed), GSMArena's audio test also found high distortions. They said the One X+ has much less distortion...
