Fixed it. After starting DanteRom for the first time, you must open SuperSU and update the binaries (should be an automatic popup) then make sure that it is enabled. I finally figured this out after 4 reflashes of DanteRom. After enabling SuperSU, you can check if it has root access by going to...

I am having the same problem. I have 2 Optimus S phones. The purple one rooted and flashed the rom just fine. The grey one rooted fine but lost root after flashing. Restoring my backup rooted stock rom restores root. Reflashing DanteRom loses it again. Running Optiauto again just messes it up...
