Finally picked up a Pixel 2 over the summer, and not seeing a big enough spec bump to make it worth the investment so soon. P4 seems more realistic for me. Looking forward to hearing more on the P3s once they're in peoples' hands, though.

I think we're at a point where the high-end phones, and even some of the mid-range phones, are so good that the nits we're able to find and pick are pretty minor. Is the camera the best ever, or just phenomenal? :) Of course, that's what forums like this are for...

My company foots the bill for me to have insurance on my phone, and I'll happily take them up on that. However, if it were coming out of my own pocket, I'd really have to think about it.

I can see this being me, too. At least the part about playing for a while in a store and really trying to pick one. I imagine it's a situation where I'd be happy with either once I committed.

Just noticed that AA 2.2 is now out. Saw on another site that the two noticeable changes seem to be the ability to swipe away notifications and the ability to block messaging notifications. Has anyone seen any other changes? Haven't had a chance to check it out myself yet.

Have you received the Android Auto 2.2 update? I just saw that it's available to me today, and doing some Google searching I found that one of the noticeable changes is a preference to disable messaging notifications in Android Auto. I don't know if AA considers texts to be the same as other...

That's encouraging. I wasn't crazy about Waze when I had my phone in a dock - the screen was too busy - but I'm curious to give it a try in Android Auto and on a bigger screen. Any other noticeable changes in AA 2.1? I just noticed the update an hour ago myself, but haven't tried it out yet.

I thought I saw mention of a Smart Storage feature on the Pixel, where you can allow the phone to delete photos more than 30 days old that have already been backed up to Google Photos. Still haven't decided if I'm getting one, but if I did, it'd be on Verizon. Generally good coverage where I am and - more importantly - work pays for service, so the carrier choice is up to them.

This is great news. Lack of HD/WiFi calling was the one thing that was making me still - grudgingly - consider buying through VZ if I ended up getting a Pixel.
