    Note 3 v Nexus 5 and Nexus 7

I ditched my Nexus 4 and 2012 Nexus 7 to get the Note 3. Now instead of bringing along 2 devices I just bring the Note. Very handy. At home, if I really need a larger screen, say for my Zinio mags, I "borrow my" iPad 2 from my 9-year old son.

How many people moved to the Note 3 from an iPhone?

I got the Note 3 to bring down the number of gadgets I bring along from two--the iPhone 5 and the (2012) Nexus 7--to just one. I also had the Nexus 4 as backup, I tried it as my daily driver for a while but went back to the iPhone 5. The Note 3 performs well as both my phone and small tablet...

Samsung S-View Flip Cover is horrible.

I agree. I'm tempted to look at other cases, but this case simply works for me: very thin, good build quality, good protection, PLUS S-View. I can think of phone cases that cost more and yet don't add any functionality at all, like DracoDesigns ($80 for Note 2 bumper case, none yet for Note 3)...

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

Another thing going for the Note 3, and one of the reasons I bought it without waiting for the Nexus 5: it has essentially replaced 2 devices I always bring along--the Nexus 4 phone and the Nexus 7 (small) tablet. The Note 3 answers my need for tablet functionality on the go. At home, when I...

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

For some reason, the Multiple Widgets toggle is not available as an option under Settings/Device/ or Settings/Device/Lockscreen, although I seem to remember seeing it when I first had the phone. It may have something to do also with the fact that for screen lock, Swipe, Signature and None are...

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

I think I get it: Now Cards are not yet officially available where I am (Philippines). The Nexus 4 I got from Google Play US had the cards though. At any rate, to me the Note 3 has just a little bit more going for it, that it doesn't make sense to swap it with the Nexus 5. Sent from my...

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

Hmm, I think I get why I cannot access it: the cards feature is not yet officially supported where I am (Philippines). It's just that with the Nexus. At any rate, I'm sticking with the Note 3 and will just wait for the kitkat updates when Samsung rolls them out. Sent from my SM-N9005...

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

I have Google search installed and was able to replace S Voice with Google Voice, but I cannot figure out how to access the Now Cards, assuming it's available. I have not rooted my Note 3 by the way and have not replaced Touch wiz with another launcher. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

    Note 3 to Nexus 5???

The one feature that I miss on my old Nexus 4, and now on the Nexus 5, that the Note 3 doesn't have is Google Now cards. But then, I don't want to give up the bigger screen, mult-windows, S pen, etc. just for the cards. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

loving nova prime :) on my note 3 .

Does Nova (and Apex and other alternative launchers) work on top of Touchwiz, i.e., does it add overhead in terms of CPU and RAM usage on top of TW? Or does it completely replace TW? Or partially, so that TW features such as the S-Pen and Air Gestures etc. are still available?

Do you use the stock text app.

I actually find the stock SMS good enough, except for the limit of 20 recipients for group texting. For that I have GO SMS Pro installed.

Is the small 7" screen too small for reading Magazines?

For my magazine subscriptions on Zinio, I still prefer my iPad 2: less zooming in and out to read individual articles. But for reading Kindle books, my 2012 Nexus 7 is just about the right size.

List of nexus 7 2013 problems

It looks like the issue with MX Player has to do with jelly bean 4.3 and not the new nexus per se. My 2012 nexus 7 received its 4.3 update and now the player isn't working, error message says it's not compatible with the new OS. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
