Yes I have the same issue. It seems that the volume on the case is a little lower than the phone so when you got the bottom of the down it is hitting phone frame. I work through this by just hitting a little higher on the button. Pain but it works.

Under settings-display there is a cast screen setting but it does not find my chrome cast.

Just checked and yes it is supposed to keep the screen off at night. I guess the wireless notification is over ridding it.
