I'm getting the feeling i need special headphones...

So just got my Xperia z3v yesterday. When I go to listen to music it plays fine, but if I want to use headphones it plays through the headphones for a few seconds, then the phone kicks the sound to the speakers on the phone. Any ideas why this is happening? Im thinking I got a dud for a...
