Could be that your slot inside is either filthy or shot. Have you tried cleaning it? Hopefully you are still under warranty if you already have cleaned out the slot and still having issues with it. Sent from my SPH-M820 from a former LG Optimus S using Tapatalk 2

This phone is and isn't great. First off this phone doesn't have a proximity censor that's why you have to always press the power button to turn the screen on. Very irritating coming from another phone in which I never ever needed to use the power button except for rebooting or turning it off...

Couple things could be wrong, it could be that the SD card slot is dirty. You can use one of those air cans to blow it out. Is your phone rooted? If so is the SD card formatted or partitioned? If rooted partition the card BUT save anything important to your computer. What type of SD card is it...

Just make sure you're on the zvd baseband, it's easier to root it that way. If you aren't, download from sprint's official site. There should be a topic here to show you how. Reminds me of how badly I wanted this phone rooted. Once you do have it rooted, have fun exploring all the custom roms...
