The great thing about the Essential Phone was it was user-centric. It put the users back in control. By buying it from Sprint, the carrier is back in control and users are tied to them for a period of time. Does Sprint add software to the phone? Can you remove it? Wondering minds want to know.

8.1 full release came out on 03-13-18. It fixed everything that was being complained about. Be sure to reset APN's and reboot to get accurate icon showing type of connection in the staus bar.

The Oreo 8.1 release and path for the Essential came out 03-13-18. It fixed a bunch and made it reliable and better.
