I had this same issue in my 2013 ford focus, which randomly stopped playing music. I knew it wasn't an issue with the Bluetooth connectivity as I could still speak over the phone through my car. I fixed this issue by disconnecting from the Bluetooth, unplugging the battery, waiting 15 seconds...
