it seems to connect for 2 seconds and then just cuts off :( i have tried all different settings

I can make calls no problem but when I recieve a call it connects and seems to hang up. What is causing this its doing my head in as its a new phone. It doesnt send it through to anser phone or anything. Is it a fault with the phone itself? It doesnt go through to answer phone or anything. Grrr...
