Pop a Bell SIM card in. I just did that got the updates OTA. Probably will work with other SIMs as well, but I know it works with a Bell SIM.

Can't speak for all of these apps, but I've found that GSAM and a couple of other apps of this type negatively impact battery life. Just my 2 cents Canadian. GC

Perhaps when you think it's flat, it actually isn't. You could turn off auto-rotate.

I normally get the updates on my Nexus 9 in the first few days of the month, and get them for my 6p usually around the middle of the month. GC

Settings\Apps|Google Connectivity Services...is that where you looked, or did you just go to the app drawer. GC
