Fortunately, I can't pull the trigger on a new smartphone now as I am not due for a new one until May 1. That will give time for the S4 to come out and for me to compare it to the Note 2 hands-on . With that said, now that it is fairly certain that Note 2 will get some of the software upgrades...

OMG I have the same history of failures with those phones (never again Moto AND HP devices). Glad to hear all the love for Note 2 on here and that it appears Samsung will continue to update it at least through 5.0. And software upgrades to the Note 2 so that it has some of the software features...

A "broken promises" Moto Photon 4G (which is a frustrating POS even without the system upgrades that never came). Before that I had a "broken promises" Palm Pre. I hope I don't curse the S4 when I upgrade to it May 1!

My original pre headset fit but the sound kept cutting in and out. And I tried it on two different Pre headsets. I gave up and got Motorola brand and no problem!

While all my wired headphones fit, the contacts do not work very well: if the headphone jack is ever so slightly bumped, the stereo sound goes out of one ear. I have on order Motorola wired headphones. If I have the same issue with them, then I will know the audio jack is faulty. UPDATE...

I'm also coming from a Pre- and the Android world does takes some getting used to! So far, I am very happy with this phone. Like a larger screen and glad it's fairly slim. It has a much more solid feel than the EVO 3D IMHO. Nice metalic touches (I could file my nails on the volume rocker).Easy...

I agree: I think the screen is gorgeous. I was hesitant to get this phone thinking the screen was gonna look like a dot matrix printout! I'm coming from a Palm Pre so maybe any screen would be more decent. :)

I heard end of July release awhile back. Yet, the recently leaked Sprint release map for Q3 (July-Sept) did not mention Photon G (though it did have what appears to be the Samsung Galaxy II to be known as Within on Sprint). I wonder if something happened to Photon 4G and it's been quietly pulled.

I checked out the display on a Samsung Infuse which has the same screen res as the forthcoming Within and I was blown away! And if it's as thin as the Infuse, I will no longer have folks staring at my crotch, wondering if I'm really that endowed! :D
