The trick I found to making it work was in the settings - can't recall which settings (Textra or the S8) - you have to permit notifications from the app to appear on your locked screen. Then they should show up on your watch, too. Took me a long time to figure that out!

I believe the Bluetooth versions of the S2 (ie the non 3G versions) don't have speakers, which makes it impossible to hear anything from them, take calls, etc. Unless you pair a headset with them, but even then they can't take calls, unlike the previous Gear 2 models, which could make and take...

Got it. So the S2 3G model has a speaker that the Bluetooth model doesn't have, I take it? It's a shame because the Gear 2 was a Bluetooth device and could make and receive calls, so I'm not sure why they cut that feature from the S2.

When it calls you still have to use your phone to speak and hear the call, right? I'm a little surprised the Gear 2 has more functionality than the Gear S2 - phone (DickTracy style) and camera.

Can you see the contents of the texts before you reply? I can see who they're from AND reply - but I can't open the messages and read it, which makes it impossible to really text on the watch.
