On my 2013 Moto X 4.4.4 the alternate audio channel does exist. Assist (2.5.4) > Driving (check Talk to me) > three vertical dot menu > Settings > Audio troubleshooting > choose Alternate audio channel. Please check your settings again.

Please clarify. My XT1053 (no DE model, they all have unlockable bootloaders), running 4.4.4, has no such option in the phone settings. Opening phone settings opens a page called 'Call settings' and does not have a voice search menu option. Are you running a custom rom? Did you mean XT1053 or...

It is very strange that people have had such different experiences using 5.1. I did the flash factory images followed by a factory data reset and set everything back up fresh. My N7 is running really well, fast and good battery life. I never installed Facebook, but do use Chrome.

It works fine for me. Maybe try a reboot or boot into safe mode and try again?

Re: Router connection issues You should definitely put in values for dns on your router settings from your pc browser. I'm using the Google public dns 8.8.8.8 with a secondary dns of 8.8.4.4. I'm not sure how dhcp server can resolve the values without dns settings.

I collect all my email accounts in Gmail. I just tried a search of a subject and a search of a name. I got accurate results back after several seconds. Are you using the Gmail app or the generic app? I can say the Gmail app works beautifully.

If you have a Moto X, you cannot insert an sd card. There is only a SIM card tray. By default, downloads go to the Sdcard\Download folder. The Sdcard here refers to Internal Memory, not an actual sdcard. Use a file manager and you will see that sdcard and storage\emulated\0 are the same...

Just called my phone and texted myself. I was able to answer the call and converse, but the text screwed up big time. When the text came in it was announced, but the phone just kept sort of randomly beeping and would not play back the text. Had to back out to stop the beeping.

If you use the Stickmount app it has the ability to use ntfs filesystem for something like a 64Gb or 128 Gb microsd card.

My Moto X has settings options like your friend's. Are you sure you are on the same version of Hangouts? Mine is v2.5.81636427. I didn't used to have the 'Send SMS from' option in settings, but do now. They have updated Hangouts a lot lately.

Which file manager are you using? My Root Explorer gives me options upon selecting a picture since I haven't set a default. Try going to Settings > Apps > (your file manager) > Launch by default > Clear defaults.

My 2012 N7 has been getting pretty laggy lately. Everything still works, but I'm hoping for a rejuvenation with Lollipop. I've done system cache wipes and some app cache wipes, but haven't done a FDR. I'll probably wait to do that just before Lollipop.

Re: Active Display I completely disagree that a notification light saves battery compared to active notifications. Active notifications only lights up a few hundred pixels, not the whole screen. With a notification light, you have to turn on the screen for any info about the notification...

OK, thanks for the info, but I had already merged voice/hangouts, set hangouts as default sms, have had google voice setup for 2 years and have the dialer. My online GV settings show my email for Chat and I set my phone to receive text messages, but not notify me by text of new voicemails...
