I have this trouble also. My fix is to use tasker to automatically open the music app I want when a certain Bluetooth connection is made.

When I put my phone on the Zen's charger, the blue light on the charger came on but the screen on the phone did not light up. When connecting a USB plug into the phone you get the screen lighting up with a battery icon so it might not work.
