If you were really looking to save some money and go for the "precious" one, why not go to the buy/sell forums here? Heck you could probably find a member close enough to you that would meet up with you so you could test it.

Looks awesome, but I'm wary of the size. I have big fingers that get cramped on my 10 inch net book, is this about the same in size.

Whew those prices are pretty high...would you recommend it over a nexus 4? I'm leaning towards an N4 for the price, but the Razr I's form fact and surprisingly good battery life are the main reason I want to get it. Which one should I get?

Honestly if you can give me a quadcore or even dualcore phone that can last a couple days without needing a charge, I'd be happy. This whole "I've got more cores than you" seems to lose importance because battery life suffers so much.

You could always get a skinomi techskin cover, they have a wooden decal for the N4. That's about as close as you'll get, unless you wanted to make your own :P
