a 3rd-party ROM is going to be the only way, unless you want to build one yourself. Check with XDA to see if there's one posted there for that device. The OS has to be built for the specific model of device.

Doesn't device encryption also require a PIN code? Most phones that came with Android 12 and newer had encryption enabled by default, didn't they?

Why not just get a card reader and take the card out of the camera to be read on the phone? You may still need the OTG cable to plug the card reader into the phone unless you find one that connects to Micro-B USB.

Is this on a recent update? I've not been experiencing issues filling logins on apps, though most are now using cached logins with biometric authentication once I get them set up.

You definitely need later than Android 4. Android is not like Windows where you can just get a version and install it on your device, it needs to be compiled specifically for your device with the hardware support already built into it. For a device so old that Android 4 is your starting point...
