Well I tried pressing all the buttons as described and it didn't bring up any menu. The voice text lag has been going on for about 2 weeks now, and it does not do it in safe mode. Any idea how to troubleshoot that?

Nevermind. I saw a different thread where uninstalling google app updates fix the screen freeze problem so I tried it and it fixed the voice text problem with the microphone as well
