You need to change the old files back before it will take the OTA. You should not loss root.

It really sounds like you need a better version of Super User. Goto the app stop and get SuperSU. I have the pro version, but they have a free version too. This should fix your issues.

No I did not. I did do a reboot before I tried the update. Hopefully you did do that before you tried the update again.

Word to the Wise, if you are rooted, the update does not break root. If you get an error, and you have added the Hotspot fix, you need to put the old files back in for the Hotspot provisioning for the OTA to work. I put the old files back my error was gone and the phone took the update. I did...

I re-inabled it so it was turned back on for the top row, then turned it back off from the top row and it is gone again, so you can turn it back off.

I have the VZW version straight from Verizon. It has been out for a month or so.

The otterbox defender is available. You won't really like it. There is a problem with the otterbox defender screen protector not sitting flat against the phone.
