No sound, no vibration. Just the blinking green light and the hardware buttons are constantly lit up. Alas, no tools nor expertise to try to repair it myself. Might be worth taking a part just for fun at this point as I expect it's next journey will be into the garbage.

The System Version is 5.7.096.XT862.Verizon.en.US I suspect rooting it might help clear the issue, but I've never done that before. Is it possible to flash it back to a stock ROM if I need to sell it?

Not without having all the necessary map data, I wouldn't have thought. The GPS chip would be able to position the tablet but it would have to reference map data to know roads, etc...
