Someone over at XDA had a similar problem and resolved it by removing his device from Android Device Manager, so if you use it, I'd suggest removing it from there and trying again.

It was meant to "debunk" your original comment that "I don't see how this can work at all, this tool doesn't see the Verizon G2 phone". You should've said "I'm having trouble getting it to work.

And...you'd be 100% wrong.

Just wanted to say that I wasn't getting it OTA, but I did like Mike770 and 0331 stated and connected my phone to my computer. It installed the Software Upgrade Assistant, and indeed found 4.4.2. Screenshots from the computer and the phone:

Came over from a Galaxy Nexus...and noticed this G2 forum was the most active... Questions: 1. I wanted to see what the LG apps were like (the remote, etc.) but didn't want to really accept their EULA about all the things they might track. After doing so, and seeing the apps aren't worth it...
