I'm using appodeal for ads, i liked, but to make seriously money is not only about ads, is about downloads and retaining players,

i'h tried cahrtboost but didnt liked, so get back to admob, but then i saw on reddit a guy talking about appodeal, and i check it out, i liked, but t here is a lot to code to integrated, is kind of hard on beggining, but is better now, you should try.

You have to create a new interface with thread with viewport, is like an app with 2 instances openned in one single app, there is a bunch of tutorial, i'm using appodeal, perhaps they have an tutorial for yout.

IAP is good, and try APPODEAL is kind of better in ads, it works with admob together, but to make real money, you have to make a good game with a good IAP!

Why dint you tried LIBGDX Framework, is easier to make games with java. There is an tutorial, Zombie Bird i believe, just grab on the google, LIBGDX tutorial Zombie Bird, and there is a step to step, very easy and with the coding! I made on game based on t his tutorial you could try it as well...
