HTC-U11. Already tried to fix via Twitter account settings with no luck. Makes searching for phone contacts difficult and annoying with all these Twitter handles in here. Not sure how they even got shared but I want them gone! Help.

True. Not able to "disable" (that's a whole separate topic on why you can/cannot enable, disable, force stop or delete certain apps) but I unchecked "notifications" and it appears to have stopped. Btw, this was on an HTC M8.

Ok, understood that the google photo app is merely a backup for gallery so no issues there but I'm still not clear by your responses how to send downloaded media DIRECTLY to the Gallery app. "You can set them to save into any folder you want if it's an option"...ok, so how do I do this? Thanks.

I am having the same issue. And the HTC Service Pack is not listed under Apps. I went to the Google Play store and found the Service Pack update under "my apps", opened it, tried to uninstall...didn't work. Ideas?
