Well I'm definitely not going to pay $500 (300 pounds), for a 7 inch tablet, you got that right. 8.4 is too big and as I said not portable because it can't fit in your pocket. I used to have a 10 inch tablet, it was too big, 7 inch is perfect because it is exactly the size of my pocket. Even a...
Re: Verizon OE1 update prevents rooting/downgrading
Luckily I am already downgraded and rooted, before they released this update. Thank you for this thread however.
I will be leaving Verizon when the time comes to get a new phone.
NEITHER!!!
What is up with all these BIG tablets? No 7.0"? SKIP THIS GENERATION.
7.0" can fit in your pocket if needed. Which makes it practical to take places. However, 8.4 it too big to fit in any pocket. Which means the only place you can use is at home. Also, 8.4 is a little too big to...
It should work, BUT, I don't recommend it, because 4.4.2 is the best. Use titanium backup to back up EVERYTHING and then downgrade to the better 4.4.2 OS. Use your titanium backups that you saved to your PC to restore all your data.
Update: I said yesterday I would let you guys know if it worked. It did. I wrote a quick writeup how to do it, I posted a new thread it will just need to get approved by moderators first.
I have downgraded successfully from 5.0 on Verizon S5 g900v to 4.4.2 (NE9 kernel) and also rooted with...
Looks like you're on 5.0 lollipop. You might want to try and downgrade. Go to sammobile to get the old OS version.
I was on 4.4.2 by the way and rooted perfectly using my instructions above.
It's true, their (sammobile) servers are so slow. But I figured to download it and try to find an alternative in the meantime. It's dowloading and still says another 6 hours left, I spent the last hour trying to find a faster alternative but only found a rapidgator mirror which was even SLOWER...
NOTE: THIS WORKED ON A SPRINT G900P. IT SHOULD WORK FOR OTHER S5, ALTHOUGH I CANNOT CONFIRM.

INSTALL CWM

STEP 0:
IF you are in your phone and not stuck in recovery, then plug into windows and drag supersu into the root of...
ok I solved it.
I have a g900p sprint s5. This worked for me when i got stuck at the screen:
step 1:
download philz cwm for your device
galaxys5root [DOT] com/cwmtwrp-recovery/
step 2:
go into recovery mode by:
1) unplug from pc
2) take out battery
3) reinsert battery
4) hold POWER + HOME +...
as wrready above said, always backup but I've been using rooted devices for years and no problems. Only thing is make sure you do it right so you don't brick your device, but it seems you're already rooted so nothing to worry about.
don't try to download OTA updates anyways, if you want to keep your root. You never want updates from the carrier/manufacturer. You never know when they will sneak in a locked bootloader or other thing to prevent rooting/custom roms.
I have the same problem, I used ODIM 4.0.7 and have galaxy s5 g900p (sprint version).
I used the guide and downloads found at this thread: androidcentral.us/2014/04/how-to-root-sprint-samsung-galaxy-s5-sm-g900p/
I'm supposing you did too.
I would say users should not use that guide in the...
