Is that (usage while in background) equivalent to wake locks? Different but still important to battery drain? Or irrelevant?

I don't have a battery app loaded right now, but is the standard O/S battery indicator of usage "while in background" an indicator of wake locks. Play Store uses a "lot" in background.

Right...that's what I did last night and it was dead by morning....maybe a runaway app...will try again tonight. BTW, one more question...do you think an FDR will help? Or is the battery just dying from 2 old age, use and cycling?

So if at bedtime I'm at 38%, charge overnight (and not worry it will obviously get to 100% before I wake)?

So I'm trying to be patient knowing it takes a few days after an update for the phone to "settle down" but it's now almost a week and the battery life is.still not good...in fact last night, heeding your "don't charge if over 40%", I left it off charge overnight...usually idle overnight it would...

Yeah, I have the Moto Z Force and, while we did get 7 and 7.1 last year fairly timely, we just this week received the Oreo 8.0 update...6 months after it's been out. Since the phone is almost 2 years old, this is apparently the last update we'll get on the original Moto Z.

Ok, thanks. I have to say, though...and this is just my "logic"...but given how using GPS/Map-routing drains the battery (and thus, I'll be charging up and utilizing another cycle or 2) it seems to me that might not be much different from keeping the device plugged in at 100%.

So, if I'm on a 4 hour drive, am I supposed to unplug from the car charge periodically along the way? I've been lazy and kept it on the charger the whole time.

First time I tried my Power bank, the phone suddenly rebooted...power bank worked after reboot but seemed awfully slow.

You commented that you weren't yet upgraded, in was wondering if you were holding off upgrading to Oreo

It also doesn't identify the city you're in. Not that, at home I don't know where I am! But when traveling, especially overseas, it was cool to see the identified area (and also know that then widget was actively picking up local weather. [emoji17]

How long did the update take? (I.e. need to guage how much battery I need or put on charger)
