Yup. I did exactly what the guy in the video did.

Well that helped me get through Odin but i can't get it to boot open recovery. I followed his instructions but it goes to the samsung screen and stays off.

Ok... I'm trying to root my note i717. No idea what I'm doing, but I'm doing it anyway. I'm on Odin and have inserted the .tar file. I got the phone to the downloading screen and started Odin but it fails at recovery.img (80-90% through). No clue what I'm doing so its hard to troubleshoot...
