OK, I followed the process about pressing on the open space. When I chose a widget, it told me there was "no more room on this home screen". How do I check what is already hogging up the space?

So when I press and hold the home button, that little box of about 6 apps are the widgets then? When I press on one of them, it just jumps me over to it. Am I missing anything, or is that the extent of it?
Coming from Palm, I depended on my Tasks for just about everything. I had them recurring for daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly reminders, many of which I had added notes to. Is there anything out there for Android that will work the same way?
