After trawling the Facebook help sections, I can see no other users with this issue. There also doesn't appear to be anyway to contact Facebook directly.

Ultimately, I fear that I will have to go directly to Facebook but don't have much confidence in their customer services.

The Facebook install on my old HTC M7 was diabolical. It would sometimes take up to 15 - 20 minutes. It sometimes even crashed my phone requiring a restart. It's about 2 minutes on my nexus 6p now. Poor app.
