Hi! Dumb question..but, have you gone to settings..then sounds and notifications..then make sure volume is turned up? Then power off a minute then turn it on and text yourself to see if it worked.

This happened to me on another version - galaxy 3 and I take the battery out and rebooted it and went in settings and powered on and switched to another keyboard and then switched back and it was fixed.

To get your mic back drag the cog key and it will spread into options on keyboard where you can pick mic again to voice text. I did it too.

I had this problem with my voice text on Samsung S3. It happened out of the blue. I fixed it by going to settings and messaging, then going to pick Hangouts as a way to text, then switching back to Samsung messaging and it corrected it.
