Forgot all about this thread until this reply popped in my inbox. I solved it and the many failings of the GS5 and Android once and for all. In June I got an iPhone 6+. Much better phone and a lot fewer of these BS annoyances. It actually works as advertised 99.999% of the time.

You didn't expect Google and/or Samsung to actually test this crap before release did you? Or even have a way to get updates to these phones in a timely manner? Android is pretty much a fail on the majority of fronts.

Interesting. Did you have any sort of warranty left? I've noticed it's gotten better but still a sluggish mess of a phone at times. Just waiting till the iPhone 6s with 700a comes out then I'm done with Android and Samsung.

I disabled the POS Google+ app. Not that anyone really uses Google+ anyway. So far no contacts crashing!

Yeah - it was 5 Mississippis (I counted it before posting). The second time opening was considerably quicker though. Hopefully we get Lollipop before April and if it makes things worse I'll warranty it.

Been there, done that. Lasted for all of a week. Coincidentally about that time the phone decided to reboot on its own and that also restored speed.... I'm hoping Lollipop fixes this. But I'm not hopeful - I was down this road with a Droid X back in the day.

I dono, the Youtube app on both iOS and Android blows. I see what they are trying to do but it still blows goats.

I'm curious on this as well. My GS5 needs lots of help. Task switching sucks, it's overall reliability needs some help (although it's been better since the last update), and the responsiveness needs lots of help. The camera app is especially bad. I could draw the picture before it opens up...

Hmm... AFAIK it's been released for T-Mobile users in VoLTE areas but available for those of us not upgraded yet. That may explain it though.
