Why would you want the 2X UI? I have played with it here in Thailand and it sucks, IMHO. I went the route of buying a G2X from the USA and importing it to Thailand just so I could have the vanilla Android UI and GB 2.3.3 now.

GB 2.3.3 on the G2X cannot be rooted using super one click, gingerbreak, or any other exploits currently known. The only way is to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery via NVFlash, and then install the pre-rooted version of the official GB 2.3.3 rom available on xda-developers forum.

I would trade it for $500 and then buy a new one. I am very happy with my G2X.

Make sure you download the drivers linked in the updater program, not from LG's website. I got the same error in software update mode at 4% and I simply removed the USB cable and reinserted it. My phone was recognized and the update proceeded. I didn't do the battery pull as instructed. YMMV.

Jeez. Gingerbread improves performance as Froyo isn't optimized for dual core devices. And to the last poster above, I have a Nexus One also and the GB update made it even better.
