You are very likely right. I loved my G4 when it worked, but with these issues I won't buy another LG phone. My HTC One m7 is still going strong.

Got the LG boot loop screen of death the day before yesterday (505 s/n). This is definitely not an isolated event occurring with a small number of phones. If you have one of the effected lines of serial numbers and it hasn't happened yet, be prepared. Glad I still have my trusty m7 to hold me...

Got invited to the G4 boot loop club the day before yesterday (505 s/n from at&t). Contacted LG and just shipped it off. Was pretty happy with the phone up until this, but am now questioning whether I would ever buy another LG phone, at least at launch.

Re: LG G4 smart settings not working properly Have had the G4 since release, and was never once able to get the Smart Settings to work. Eventually just turned it off. You can use other apps (like Tasker) to do all of these things much better, though with a slight learning curve.

I tried it out. Phone fits in there just fine and it looks nice, however, the selection button/lever didn't work properly on the one I got. The lever didn't reset all the way after pressing it, so it didn't work. I think I just got a faulty unit, but didn't try another one to verify that.

I want one so I can go stock and not have to wait on LG and AT&T to both get their act together for updates.

Yes, Wild Tangent is the games app. It is probably safe, but is major crapware. Gotta love AT&T

Re: Voice Mate problems. I would check the Smart Settings to see if it is set to automatically open that when head phones are plugged in. It is under the General settings tab, then smart settings.

Switching to a keyboard other than stock and using the SGS screen booster app cleared things up for mine on AT&T. Was having the same exact issues before though.

I installed the SGS screen booster app and started using the pre-installed Google keyboard and everything is super fast and responsive.
