Well there is no law that says a consumer MUST comply with a recall. They can't arrest or fine anyone for choosing not to participate in a recall. So if I don't feel like it, what can they really do?

Still good here on VZW. Have an older version of package disabler pro installed. Never got hit with the 60% limit and no sign of an update yet. Still can charge to 100% with the green battery firmware.

I'm just using my Verizon Note 7 as a wifi only device now, so I no longer have the SIM card installed. I also have package disabler pro running too. Have not got any notifications to update. Still have the green battery and still charges to 100%

Well they don't seem too concerned with getting mine back either. No notifications so far telling me to send it back or else... So until that happens I will just enjoy it as a wifi device.

I've heard that the corporate stores will actually take them back now if you want to get rid of it.

My guess is once the update is applied, it just won't let the charge activate until it drops below 60%. So trying to keep it above 60% to thwart the limit most likely wouldn't work.

I don't have the service provider update file either. It may depend on what service and who's version of the phone you have. I'm in the Detroit MI area and I have the Verizon version. But I also no longer have a SIM card installed and I'm just using it as a wifi only device.

Just use the search bar in the App and search for these files listed in the pic. Check the little boxes to disable them and you should be good to go.

You could try using something like Package Disabler Pro and disable the system updates and see if you can avoid it that way.

I bet if you switched to a different phone on that line, the device payment would disappear. That would mean you wouldn't be able to keep using the Note though...
