Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

It is, but what is important here is Mobile country code (MCC). Google uses MCC to enable specific LTE bands for specific countries. Puerto Rico MCC is 330, while MCCs for the rest of US are 310, 311, 312, 313 and 316.

Went from Pixel XL to Pixel

I still remember the time before the touch screen phones, when small screen was the trend. Back then I wanted a bigger screen, but absolutely nothing was available. Now it's the opposite and I'm having trouble finding a smaller screen phone :) There are no any decent phones below 5", except for...

Will they take an HTC Thunderbolt for the $200 trade in?

They would only give $20 for my Droid Maxx, so I just kept it. I doubt they give more than $10 for a Thunderbolt as it's a much older phone.

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

I think the forum you are talking about is https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/phone-by-google/OxkJ1Sn6i5c If somebody from Puerto Rico mentioned "little to no signal" or something similar and I missed it, I apologize. I just reread it and still can't find anything close. It's good...

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Sorry if I offended you. It wasn't sarcasm, it was a honest question. I also read that forum and nobody from Puerto Rico said they get "little to no signal", they said no LTE at all on Claro. It means that Puerto Rico was the last or one of the last countries that Google forgot to enable...

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

People in Puerto Rico don't get "little to no LTE signal", they get NO LTE PERIOD. There's a big difference. This is the list of countries that had band 4 along with some other bands enabled in the December update: Maybe they'll also enable it for Puerto Rico next month, but what difference...

I don't understand what you mean.

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Web pages load very fast for me even with zero bars. It's because the speed has more to do with signal quality, not signal strength. See another example here, 20 Mbps with zero bars! Verizon uses three bands for LTE: 2, 4 and 13. S3 supports only 13 and S5 supports 13 and 4. Pixel supports all...

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Re: Verizon Pixel XL - Dropping calls? Verizon fixed some towers in your area? :) I know that nobody believed me when I said that's a towers issue many pages ago, but isn't it the most obvious explanation?

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

Not sure what you mean by "connected to my LTE one heck of a lot better". Did it totally lose the signal or fell back to CDMA? Did you try to start a call, go to a weak reception area and watch at which point the call drops on each phone? I have a regular Pixel, not an XL, that's might be where...

    Video Calling Provisioned

It should work across carriers in the future. Verizon and AT&T promised it this year: Verizon, AT&T offering interoperable VoLTE to some customers | FierceWireless I wouldn't hold my breath though, because they already missed their previous deadline, which was the end of 2015. @erasat In the...

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

That's why I said that the only real test would be to take 2 phones to a low signal area and see when they drop a call or signal. I did this test with my Pixel and my Motorola Droid Maxx and can say that they lose the signal at about the same point and the Pixel holds a VoLTE call even better...

Pixel - Signal dropping (Update: Google Knows)

It's just an example to give an idea about Pixel "zero bars" issue. Of course different phones map signal to bars differently, because there's no standard for it. Even dBm (RSRP) alone won't tell you how good the signal is. RSRP is just signal strength. Signal quality (RSRQ and SNR) are more...

    Video Calling Provisioned

I don't have anyone on Verizon with video calling capable phone in my contacts, but others reported it worked. See here for example Google Pixel & Pixel XL on AT&T - Page 2 Another requirement is that person should also have VoLTE enabled.

    Video Calling Provisioned

It should only show up if another person is on Verizon LTE and has a video calling capable phone.
