You may get a defective one. Call anker and see if they'd exchange one for you. You can go with RavPower also. I've been using their 14000mAh charger and 5-in-1 filehub. Not any problems so far.

You can go for a RavPower 14000mAh as from what you say you need a juicy one with 2 outputs. I've got one and I'm pretty happy with it. If you prefer a lighter one, this model also has an alternate 8400mAh model. My wife got one and it's smaller and lighter than mine.

I would prefer an external battery charger. It won't add weight to the phone if you wear a battery case. And it's safer than to have a third party li-ion battery. Of course, budget is one of most important factor concerning the charger, I've a chance to get a RavPower 10400mAh for just $29.99...
