I thought it was an okay browser but the pinch to zoom is HORRIBLE!!! I will stick with xscope for now it does everything I want in a browser, but will likely keep sxyfire in case there is a video I want to watch that the other browsers can't play

It is possible to get the black notification bar without installing a custom rom/theme but you still need to be rooted. It is a little bit on the advanced side and requires you to push files and images onto the phone.

if you use that link above to get to stock 2.1 with SPRecovery, you can use this to get you root access - (it won't let me post the link cuase i'm a noob here, lol... but on Droid Life search for "video-installing-stock-2-1-with-root-access" good luck

yea, i did run cyanogen for a little bit, but thought i liked the stock feel with the extras of being rooted.. can you use those kernels for a basic version or do those only work for the custom roms?

I had flashed mine to 2.01 stock using the spf method then there is a way to upgrade to 2.1 from there that will give you root access.. check out droid-life.com. Kellex has some good tutorials as well as videos, dont have the links at the moment though, but should be easy to find
