Not true. If it was pooled storage, it wouldn't refuse to install Grand Theft Auto because I have insufficient space, when I have 1GB free on the internal and 26gb free on the sd card...

It's terrible. I'm facing the same issue. Combining the sd card to internal means that you can't save photos taken with the camera to the sd card. Or you can't transfer apps to sd any more if you format as portable storage.

Yup - this feature is basically just a built in, automatic apps2sd service, the downfall being photos taken with the camera can't be saved to the SD card. The only way they can be is if you format as portable storage, which then means no apps at all can be manually transferred to the card.
