Just an update for anyone who happens to have this problem in the future I ended up buying a new USB cable, but when I got it my charging adapter broke so I got a new adapter as well and it charges perfectly fine now.

I don't often let my devices get to 0% either, I did it in this case because I heard it's a good idea to drain your battery down to 0 and charge it up to full when its new. I hadn't done it when I first got it so I figured I might as well do it now and time the recharge speed.

Thanks for the help guys I'll give your suggestions a try, for now I'm ordering a new USB cable and will get a USB charge port flex cable afterwards if the problem persists.
