    Looking into Android

Welcome to the forums! As to your quest for a new cell phone, I wouldn't get a slider phone. I used to own a Dash phone before switching to an iPhone and I thought I'd hate the screen only keypad and miss my qwerty, tactile keypad. I did miss it - for about a week. After that, I got used to the...

Facebook announcement cool but nothing awesome

Hey lingo622: Google+ very well may overtake Facebook some day, my first comment was to address the ides from jSterling that "Google will win. No doubt in my mind." I think there's a lot of doubt about it. The thing is, I think Google finds itself in a very similar position in competing against...

Facebook announcement cool but nothing awesome

I wouldn't be so sure. First, the name thing doesn't necessarily help Google. A lot of people, myself included, get a little skeptical about putting too much of our information and trust in a single large company. I use Gmail and Google apps and have an Android phone...that might be enough for...

Replaced my Thunderbolt Screen - now menu buttons not working

I'm not 100% sure about the Thunderbolt but I've replaced screens on a lot of other phones and can offer two options if you do have all the connections securely in place. If the digitizer (which senses your finger touches) extends over the whole screen, then you got a bad screen. It happens...

Anyone else a Mac/Apple user who loves Android?

I own a Mac and used to own an iPhone. I honestly had no issues with the iPhone itself but I hated the cost of the contract on AT&T and was not going to go to 2G speeds by unlocking and running on T-Mobile. So I just switched a couple of months ago to a MyTouch 4G on T-Mobile. I'm a pretty...

    My newbie android questions

Depends what the 50 apps are. In general, no. However, as you will see if you start looking around on various battery threads, some apps can cause significant problems to your battery life. My suggestion, root your phone and get rid of a lot of the crap that is factory installed.

    Is the atrix worth it?

I play with quite a few phones on a regular basis (I fix them for people) and the Atrix is one of my favorites. The speed is great, the onscreen keyboard is fantastic, it's a good sized screen without being too big (like the Evo), and all around a very nice device. If I was on AT&T, that's the...

    My newbie android questions

Actually, there's a couple of different way to see what apps are running and/or kill them. Option #1: Built into Android Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Running From there you can see what's running and do a Force Stop if you want. Option #2: Download Advanced Task...

    Battery Life = Bad

I definitely recommend checking out this other post on Android Central about someone that figured out their battery issue. Good read and worth trying (though it's for a different phone): http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-droid-charge/86079-fixed-my-battery-drain-issue.html

For those doing Sprint Buyback Program for the EVO

Just an FYI for people looking at that buyback program, You can probably get more if you're willing to sell it on Ebay. I just did a check and there's a few auctions ending soon on Ebay for used Evos and the price is over $200 for them. They're in good condition, have clean ESNs, and come from...

    Need a new phone. :(

You've probably already gotten a new phone but if you still have your Dell Streak 5 laying around and miss it or maybe this will help someone else... You should be able to fix your Dell Streak yourself or have someone do it for you. Just do a Google video search for: "dell streak take apart...

    Looking to Upgrade Moto Droid...

If your contract is up: Consider switching from Verizon to another carrier. There's a lot of great phones on every carrier now so unless you have to be on Verizon (for work or coverage reasons), I might take a look at some other phones. I just switched from an AT&T iPhone to the MyTouch 4G on...

    Fixed my Battery drain issue!

@Grenex. Thanks a ton for that post. I just got my first Android phone (MyTouch 4G) and I love the phone but have had some serious battery issues. I just disabled ATK on my phone and hopefully that will prove the step I need to get this thing lasting all day. Thanks again!

    Hey

Mind giving me a quick review of what it is you like so much about the Thunderbolt? Also, forgive my ignorance but what's and "O.G. D1"?

    hi all

I actually just made the switch from an iPhone 3GS to my first Android phone (the MyTouch 4G on T-Mobile). The biggest reason I made the switch was because I wanted to save money (I get unlimited texts, data, and voice for $40 less per month than a more limited plan on AT&T). So if you're...
